Jammu & Kashmir: Three local BJP leaders shot dead in south Kashmir’s Qazigund area.

Kashmir, Kulgam: Three Bharatiya Janata Party workers were killed in a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Qazigund area of Kulgam late on Thursday. BJP Yuva Morcha General Secretary Fida Hussain Yatoo was among the three people killed in the attack.

The incident took place at Eidgah in YK Pora village in Qazigund on Thursday. Inputs suggest that all three were travelling in a car when militants opened indiscriminate fire at them around 8.20 pm on Thursday evening. They were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, but declared brought dead. Locals informed the J&K police that the attackers fled in an Alto car.

A resident of YK Pora, Fida Hussain Yatoo was a district general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM). Umar Ramzan Hajjan and Umar Rashid Beg, both residents of YK Pora, were local BJP workers. The local police said that Investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this terror crime. Area has been cordoned off and search in the area is going on.

J&K BJP strongly condemned this barbaric terror attack on BJP Leaders. Those who are responsible for this will not be spared, BJP Jammu and Kashmir tweeted. The Party said that this inferior act reflects the frustration of the terrorists. May God give peace to departed souls and fortitude to their family to bear this terrible loss. Our heartfelt condolences are with their family.

Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed several attacks on BJP leaders, workers in the recent past. BJP leader Sheikh Waseem Bari, who was the former district president of the party, and two of his family members were killed by terrorists in Bandipora district.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his tweet that “I condemn the killing of 3 of our young Karyakartas. They were bright youngsters doing excellent work in J&K. My thoughts are with their families in this time of grief. May their souls rest in peace.”

Lt Governor strongly condemns killings of political workers in South Kashmir

Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha has strongly condemned the killings of political workers who were shot dead by the militants in Qazigund area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district. Expressing his anguish over the killings, the Lt Governor said that the perpetrators of violence are the enemies of humanity and such cowardly acts can not be justified. Law shall take its course and the guilty shall be dealt with sternly, he added. The Lt Governor assured all the possible help from the government to the bereaved families. He also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls.

Omar Abdullah also tweeted and wrote that Terrible news from Kulgam district of South Kashmir. I unequivocally condemn the targeted killing of the 3 BJP workers in a terror attack. May Allah grant them place in Jannat & may their families find strength during this difficult time.

Condoling the incident, Former J&K chief minister Mehbooba Mufti tweeted, “Saddened to hear about the killing of three BJP workers in Kulgam. Condolences to their families. At the end of the day, its people of J&K who pay with their lives because of GOI’s ill thought out policies.”
