Jammu & Kashmir: DDC Anantnag chairs review meeting of Cooperative Societies

KASHMIR, ANANTNAG, SEPTEMBER 26: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Anantnag, K.K Sidha today chaired a review meeting of cooperative societies.

During the meeting, the DDC was informed that there are 184 sale outlets in the district with 36 Gowdans, 157 K-oil tankers, 221 barrels, 50 Cooperative Societies and various other assets.

The officers of the societies also briefed about the service provided by them to the people of the district.

While taking stock of the societies, the DDC urged upon the officers to make the societies functional, result orientated and cooperate with other line departments like agriculture, horticulture, fisheries and other allied departments to provide the platform and market to the produce of FPOs, SHGs etc.

He also stressed the officers to add new and various consumer items in the sale outlets to boost the economies of the society and further added that a committee will be constituted to assess the assets of the societies and concrete steps will be taken for the revival of the old age system in societies.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner held District Level Screening/Coordination Committee meeting in which five cases of ex-gratia relief were cleared.
